What is it about New York snowstorms and former deputy mayor Stephen Goldsmith? Just as the first potentially big snow storm since the Boxing Day blizzard of 2010 comes to town, news arrives that Goldsmith and his wife of 24 years are getting a divorce. You remember Goldsmith? Former mayor of Indianapolis and a high profile Bloomberg hire? Left the city in disgrace after he was arrested for domestic violence and totally not because of the way he messed up the city's management of the blizzard? Yeah, that guy.
After he resigned, Goldsmith was found innocent of the assault charges thanks to his his wife recanting claims that he "smashed a phone and physically restrained her when she tried to call police." Since then he has been managing a few gigs including "teaching at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard and serving as a strategic adviser to a Washington law firm."
Goldsmith filed for divorce in Indiana. In a statement, his spokeswoman confirmed the divorce but didn't go into any details: "As you can imagine, this is a difficult time for the entire Goldsmith family. Your support and respect for the family’s privacy are much appreciated."
