Cathie Black was "not incapacitated" on Sunday night, her personal publicist tells the Post. And she says "she was not inebriated." And yet still the former Schools Chancellor reportedly "practically hit every tree in the driveway" while leaving a Bastille Day party in the Hamptons. Her publicist explains that she was simply "not familiar with the driveway."
"She was coming out of the driveway and looking to the left," the publicist explained, "because she was told there is a dangerous curve difficult to see around, and hit a tree with her car on the right." Black had reportedly been enjoying herself at a fully catered party to watch the Grucci fireworks over Gardiner Bay. There was another person in the car with Black but both were unharmed. After her disastrous exit from the party Black, 67, reportedly left her SUV at the end of the driveway and accepted a lift to her own mansion 15 miles away. The car remained at the scene until Tuesday, as Black had already returned to town for a Luncheon on Monday.
You will recall that Black, a former Hearst executive, was last in the spotlight after Mayor Bloomberg briefly (disastrously) appointed her as the Schools Chancellor before pulling the rug out from under her 95 days later. Oh Cathie, we missed you!
