The Brooklyn mom who was accused of trying to kill her husband's out-of-wedlock baby, by tricking the mother into taking an abortion-inducing medicine, pleaded guilty today to a lesser charge of second-degree assault, ensuring she will likely be out of jail within two years. And the whole ordeal can be blamed on some seriously "out of whack" hormones.
Kisha Jones admitted that she tried to get Monique Hunter to abort her baby in October 2009, by using a forged prescription and phone number-disguising software to call Hunter and trick her into taking cytotec, which caused her to go into early labor. Jones was also accused of posing as a hospital administrator in an unsuccessful effort to have the infant taken off its respirator, and attempting to poison the infant with tainted breast milk.
Both Hunter and Jones had been impregnated by Jones' husband Anthony Jones around the same time, and Jones' defense lawyer Barry Turner successfully argued that Jones was out of her gourd as a result: "My client was in the last trimester of her pregnancy and was acting irrationally. I guess her hormones were out of whack." Jones, who is still married to her husband, will be sentenced to four years, but with time served and credit for good behavior, could be out in a year and eight months.
