At least Kmart is consistent when it comes to kicking off the holidays early. This year the retailer brought out its Christmas trees 100 days before Christmas and now look: the Kmart at Astor Place is pushing its St. Patrick's Day gear a good 50+ days before we all get to play "Everyone's Irish" bingo. You never know when you might want to do a trial run, right?
The big problem here is that if we keep this up the holidays are just becoming a muddled blur. How can we be thinking about imitating the "inebriated Irish," as our Bostonian mayor once called them when we haven't even made it through our Burns Night haggis, let alone our Valentine's Day sliders? Would it be easier on the stores if we just made one superholiday to Rule Them All?
