A Queens man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a Grubhub delivery worker to death and then stealing his e-bike last Saturday morning in Manhattan's Chinatown.

Joseph Sandoval, 23, of Jamaica faces murder charges in the death of Sala Miah. Video surveillance released by the NYPD moments before the alleged incident shows a man police identified as Miah sitting near a bench outside Sarah D. Roosevelt Park. A man police say was Sandoval sits on the opposite side of the same bench. The video does not show the moments when Miah, 51, was slashed in the face and stomach, but picks up after Sandoval is seen riding the e-bike out of the frame. Miah was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Miah had reportedly been from Bangladesh, and was sending money back home to his wife and two children.

In an interview with WABC-TV this week, Miah's brother, Muhammad Ahsan, said that Miah had immigrated to the states for a better life.

"There are so many innocent people that are losing their lives with this kind of incident," Ahsan said. A service was held for Miah several days after he died. He was reportedly flown back to his native country to be buried.

Grubhub said while Miah was on the job hours before the incident, he was not active on the delivery app's platform. The Daily News reported Miah had finished a long shift.

Sandoval was not granted bail. His next court appearance is October 28th.
