A shocking thing happened yesterday: No snow! No snow is expected today either, so after Saturday's snowfall we are stuck at 27.3 inches for February and 55.6 inches for the season. That makes this month the 3rd snowiest February on record, the 7th snowiest of any month and this the 8th snowiest winter since records began in 1869. Not too shabby. If you want more snow just wait until tomorrow, but today we'll have to put up with a cool, sunny day with a high only around 30 degrees, which is ten degrees cooler than normal.

The high pressure system bringing the clear skies won't stick around for long. A storm developing near St. Louis this morning is expected to displace the high by late tonight. By pushing lots of warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico up over the dome of cold air that's currently in place the storm will produce snow. Most forecasts say 1-3 inches of snow from about 4 a.m. to noon tomorrow. As the day progresses the storm will push the cold air away and the snow will change over to rain. Tuesday's high should reach the low 40s.

For the rest of the week the jet stream is expected to flatten out and we can expect several days of warm weather. Wednesday is looking like it will hit the mid to upper 40s with perhaps a few rain showers thrown in. No showers are expected on Thursday, but the temperatures should once again be comfortably in the 40s. Friday looks to be the warmest day of the week with a high in the 50s but it may turn out to be a rainy day.
