The long sad story of Carlina White, who was kidnapped from Harlem Hospital in 1987 and then solved her own case last year, is coming to a close. Ann Pettway, the woman who raised White as Nedra Nance, is expected to plead guilty to kidnapping charges in court today. Pettway initially pleaded not guilty last February.

Details of the plea have not been released yet. In 1987 the 19-day-old White was brought by her parents to Harlem Hospital with a fever. While on an IV drip she was picked up by somebody and wasn't heard from again for almost a quarter century. It was only when White recognized herself in a photo that she started to piece together the story, eventually being reunited with her birth parents by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Sadly that reunion has not always been the happiest.

White is not expected to be in court today, but may be present at the sentencing. Pettway faces up to 20 years in prison for the kidnapping.
