The investigation into PS 243 teacher's aide and alleged child pornographer Taleek Brooks continues, and at least one good thing could come of it. Because Brooks was using P2P services to distribute child pornography his computer, which the FBI has in its possession, hopefully will lead to many more arrests.
The FBI first became aware of Brooks when an agent was able to obtain kiddie porn from the 41-year-old's computer over a P2P network. Now they are hoping that his computer will offer up information on who his other peers are, so they too can be arrested.
At the same time, some concerns have been raised about the fact that Brooks regularly took young male students from the school to the movies, the country and on other trips without any monitoring from the Department of Education. "Education Department spokeswoman Natalie Ravitz insisted the dance group, the Freestylers, was part of an after-school program and not an official club, therefore not subject to city regulations or monitoring."
Meanwhile, Agents continue to talk with parents, teachers and students at the Brooklyn public school where Brooks worked. According to the FBI it has received a number of calls to its tipline (212-384-2700) regarding the man in the past two days.
