Ten days after being shot in the head while pursuing a suspect at the Bushwick Houses, police officer Kevin Brennan was released from Bellevue Hospital today. Wearing a #91 Justin Tuck Giants jersey, he told reporters, "It feels great," and that his first order of business at home in Long Island would be to hug his two-month-old daughter. And look at how cute he, his wife and daughter are!
When Brennan arrived at his Garden City home, Justin Tuck was actually there: He was in Long Island receiving a key to Nassau County, and after that event, he stopped by Brennan's home for 10 minutes. He had been at Umberto's when one of his agents suggested they say hi to Brennan.
Police Commissioner Kelly said, "This young man has such spirit, such resolve and I think that’s all very much a part of his recovery. It’s just amazing, couldn’t ask for anything better." And Brennan's father said about the apparently miracle of his son's recovery, "It's the luck of the Irish, that's what I'll tell you. He comes from very strong stock."
Luis "Baby" Ortiz was arrested for the shooting.
