An elderly Queens woman is fighting for her life after a minivan, which was trying to back into a parking space, struck her on 75th Avenue in Queens yesterday morning. Neighbors say that 92-year-old Ilonko Krauss survived Auschwitz during World War II.

According to WABC 7, "Police said the driver, 37-year-old Rustam Muradoe, apparently backed his 2003 Toyota Sienna into the woman," not realizing Krauss was crossing the street. Muradoe was given a summons for unsafe backing and failure to exercise due care, and WCBS 2 reports, "Police arrested the driver on an outstanding warrant for another matter."

Last week on the Upper West Side, a SUV going in reverse fatally struck a 78-year-old woman and injured her daughter.
