Joe Daniels, who makes $400,000 a year heading up the 9/11 Memorial skipped last month's ceremony to remember the six people killed in the 1993 WTC bombing for a ski trip with his father. "It was unfortunate that I could not be there," Daniels told DNAinfo's Murray Weiss. "I had a personal obligation." That obligation was an annual trip to the slopes of Breckenridge, Colorado. "I have one of the best dads in New York," Daniels added. NEVER FORGET…to properly situate your poles when boarding a ski lift with a companion.

Although we suppose it's better that Daniels was spending time with his 69-year-old father rather than getting lapdances and listening to Steve Reich, volunteers who don't have massive salaries managed to show up to the ceremony. "There are people who are volunteers at the Tribute Center, long before the memorial, who showed up because they felt it is something they should do,” an official said. "And they are not getting paid $400,000 like Joe Daniels to give up their time.”

Daniels argues that the ceremony was in good hands. “And I knew that other people, some of the best, who worked on the memorial and towers, would be there. It was not for a lack of caring.”
