Earlier today the Garden State's lovable roly-poly governor Chris Christie went and called another lawmaker "numbnuts" while he was apologizing for something else he'd said. Which makes now as good a time as any to review just a few of the other schoolyard insults Christie has tossed around since taking office! The man does have a way with words:
The Time He Called The Cast Of Jersey Shore Losers
Yup, so Christie wasn't wrong when he called the MTV reality stars "losers," but still. Last year he was caught on tape calling the gang out for being non-natives, "They’re from New York. Snooki is from Poughkeepsie The Situation from Staten Island. They parachuted these losers into New Jersey. And they want to make all of you believe that they’re in New Jersey. They’re not."
The Time He Called A NJ Pol A "Jerk"
After getting busted in Choppergate Christie lashed out at Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle for piling on with those who said he should pay the state for his chopper rides (he eventually did). "She should really be embarrassed at what a jerk she is," he said at the time.
The Time He Called New Jersey State Teachers "Thugs"
Christie and the teachers union in the Garden State have had a bumpy ride, but are they really "political thugs?" Last year in an interview with Diane Sawyer he sure seemed to think so. "I believe the teachers in New Jersey in the main are wonderful public servants that care deeply. But their union, their union are a group of political thugs," Christie said at the time.
The Time He Called A Protester "Sweetheart"
Okay, so this one wasn't so much an insult as it was odd. When Chris Christie got heckled by protesters at a Mitt Romney rally in New Hampshire earlier this year the gov responded to one who yelled, "Christie kills jobs!," with the surprising-for-a-politician retort: "You know, something may go down tonight but it ain't gonna be jobs, sweetheart!" He later (sort of) clarified that what he meant by that "going down" bit was unemployment with Romney as president—so get your head out of the gutter.
The Time He Called A Washington Post Columnist An "Ignoramus"
While on Morning Joe just last week Christie sank his teeth into Eugene Robinson while talking about his recent appearance talking with Oprah and why he was willing to talk with her about his weight. Here's what he said:
"It wasn’t hard for me, Mika. . . . The fact is, she asked me questions, I answered them, and I told the truth, and I told people how I feel. It is a struggle . . . and I hope that other people in the country understand and I appreciate what you all have been doing when ignoramuses like Eugene Robinson get on your show and start saying the stuff that they say about weight, that someone should have a salad and take a walk. . . . As far as I’m concerned, guys like that shouldn’t have a platform to speak, they’re so ignorant."
The Time He Called New Gingrich "An Embarrassment"
For a man who isn't running for President, Chris Christie certainly likes to talk about national politics. His most recent example being when he lashed out at Newt Gingrich when the latter beat Christie's boy Mitt in South Carolina. "This is a guy who has had a very difficult political career at times and has been an embarrassment to the party," being the full quote.
We're sure we're missing a few in there, too. Which just leads us to remind Governor Christie that there are many more schoolyard barbs he can say between now and 2016 if he wants easy press. Here are but a few we'd like to see come out of his piehole: assclown, boogerbrain, doodyhead, dickwad, fartbreath, and poopyface. Make it happen, Chris!
