Yesterday evening, a green taxi jumped a curbed in the Mount Eden section of the Bronx, striking several people who were waiting at a bus stop on Grand Concourse near 170th Street. A five-year-old girl and a 25-year-old man were killed, while two other adults at the bus stop, the taxi driver and another driver that the taxi driver struck were injured. A witness said, "It was frantic, very scary, never seen anything like it."

According to police, around 6:30 p.m., "the green cab was traveling north bound on the Grand Concourse in the far right service road travel lane, approaching the intersection of East 170 Street, when it struck a parked 2001 Subaru in front of 1398 Grand Concourse, causing minor injury to the operator, a 31-year-old female, and then proceeded to mount the curb in front of 1410 Grand Concourse."

That when the 44-year-old green cab driver struck the pedestrians, killing Kadeem Brown, 25, who died at the scene, and Tierre Clark, 5, who died at Lincoln Hospital. A 55-year-old man, who was waiting at the bus stop, is in critical condition, and a 39-year-old woman who was also waiting there is in stable condition. A witness, Raymond Fermin, told WCBS 2 about the firefighters' attempts to save Tierre, "On this side they were pressing on her chest — the little girl. I’m guessing also she couldn’t breathe. I wasn’t sure. The guy that was laying here on the floor — they weren’t giving him any treatment. I guess he was already gone."

The NYPD is continuing to investigation the incident. Transportation Alternative issued a statement, "We are saddened to hear the terrible news of the crash in the Bronx where a Boro taxi driver went up onto a sidewalk, killing two people, including a five-year-old girl -- and injuring a number of others. We await the findings of ongoing investigations by the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad and the Taxi & Limousine Commission. If negligence is ​found to be ​a factor, the driver must be held accountable ​to the full extent of the law."
