Three off-duty city employees were arrested early Sunday morning after a tussle with police outside 809 Sangria Bar & Grill on Dyckman Street in Washington Heights. The trouble started shortly after 4 a.m. when police confronted Kelvin Lorenzo, a 28-year-old corrections officer, as he allegedly enjoyed a pre-dawn cognac from an open container. Police say Lorenzo was also acting disorderly, and when they attempted to arrest him, a teacher and a woman who works in the NYPD’s Communications Department intervened.
According to the NYPD, the teacher, 30-year-old Nicole Lucien, jumped on one officer’s back "and attempted to choke him with a lanyard." Meanwhile, 27-year-old Krismeli Cuilan, the NYPD Communications Department employee, allegedly pushed a sergeant who was also on the scene. All three were arrested and charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration. And once Lorenzo was behind bars, police sources tell CBS 2 he punched another cellmate. He was also charged with assault.
Lucien faces additional charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assault on a police officer. The Fried Fish stuffed with seafood at 809 Sangria Bar is pretty disappointing, sources tell Yelp.
