A 22-year-old woman was fatally struck by a train in The Bronx early this morning. Police say the woman, whose identity has not been released yet, was walking on a narrow walkway along the elevated tracks near West 238th Street and Broadway when she was struck by the train around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.

The southbound 1 train had just left the train yard at 240th Street when it struck her; she was declared dead at the scene. According to the Post, "The train operator told investigators she didn’t see the victim, and only discovered the body while inspecting the roadbed after the emergency breaks kicked in." The News adds that the walkway is off limits to the public, and its unclear how she got there.

No criminality is suspected. The Post say that the woman is from Massachusetts, but cops could not confirm that.
