Police say that two people have been killed after a tractor-trailer and a car crashed on the West Shore Expressway earlier this morning. And the car may have been driving the wrong way.
According to the Staten Island Advance, "The tractor-trailer was driving southbound on the West Shore Expressway" near the Arthur Kill Road exit "and the second vehicle was traveling the wrong way in the southbound lane before the two crashed just before 5 a.m., according to an NYPD spokesman."
WABC 7 reports, "The force of impact sent both vehicles into a guardrail."
The driver and a passenger in the car were killed, while two other passengers and the tractor-trailer driver were injured.
WCBS 2 reports, "All southbound lanes of the West Shore Expressway are closed at Arthur Kill Road, but traffic is being detoured and there are only minor delays, CBS2’s Jim Smith reported. Drivers may still want to consider alternate routes."
