A 15-year-old girl has been arrested and accused of attempting to kill her family by setting fire to their home in New Jersey. The Clayton teen, who hasn't been identified, has been charged with two counts of aggravated arson and six counts of attempted murder for the fire, which was started around 2 a.m. Saturday morning.
Investigators believe the teen ignited the fire by pouring gasoline on the second floor of the home. Police say that six members of the family, including the girl who allegedly started the blaze and four of her siblings, were injured. The teen suffered burns to her feet; another girl injured her hip when she jumped from the second floor.
The mother of the children and a brother, who helped rescue the other children, were most drastically injured with internal burns. The woman's husband and a nine-year-old child are being treated for foot and leg burns, while a six-year-old was unharmed. The teen suspect was treated for her injuries, then taken to the Camden County juvenile detention center; she is due in court on Monday.
