Suffolk County police arrested 15 people and impounded seven vehicles after what they described as a street takeover in Medford. It’s the second crackdown in a month.
Authorities said that on Friday night, Suffolk County’s Street Takeover Task Force tracked a planned takeover through social media. The task force stopped the group from staging takeovers at several locations, including Commack Road and Sunrise Highway in Islip, and Route 112 and Main Street in Patchogue.
Police said seven vehicles were impounded in Medford.
Police later intercepted the group at Woodside Avenue and Sawgrass Drive, where authorities said drivers closed down parts of the road by driving recklessly, doing donuts and burnouts.

Police said the 15 people arrested ranged in age from 18 to 23 and came from parts of Long Island and New York City.
In a similar crackdown late last month, Suffolk County police arrested three people in a takeover involving more than 200 ATVs, dirt bikes and motorcycles on roads in multiple Suffolk County towns.
