Move over, Bill Maher—there's another famous minority investor in the Mets. Jim McCann, who you may recall from the 1-800-Flowers commercials (he founded the company), ponied up $20 million for a piece of the Amazin's.

McCann, a Queens native, told the Post, “I felt it was a reasonable investment, but growing up a lifelong Mets fan, this was more about being able to do something fun and interesting for me and my family...A lot of the financial issues are being resolved, and [team brass] has done a great job of putting together some great home-grown talent."

Late last year, the Mets announced they were offering 12 sets of 4% minority shares to interested parties who could afford the $20 million price tag. According to the Post, "By becoming a minority owner, McCann will get such perks as prime seating, his own CitiField parking spot and the ability to mingle with players — and even Mr. Met." Can 1-800-Flowers develop a "Sorry your team has lost 5 of the last 6" bouquet?
