For those of you who don’t like hockey, tonight is the perfect opportunity to give it a chance. Since going out is not going to be easy, stay inside and watch the Rangers play Toronto because it should be a great game.
The seeds for tonight’s contest were sewn Friday in the Ranger’s 4-2 victory. Both teams played aggressive, sometimes illegal hockey. Toronto played rough and the Rangers responded. Things got chippy in the first period when Alexei Ponikarovsky put a brutal hit on Ryan Hollweg. Jed Ortmeyer responded by swinging at Ponikarovsky and the tone of the game was set.
The Rangers used their power play to score three of their four goals, with Jaromir Jagr netting two and providing an assist. Tom Poti came out of the penalty box at the perfect moment to get a breakaway for the Ranger’s other goal.
Darcy Tucker made several hard hits and Brian McCabe added a solid shot to Dominic Moore late in the third period. Expect more of the same tonight when the teams play their last game before the Olympic break.
