It turns out that NY State's Office of General Services has been matching a little extra money by selling what the Daily News calls "unwanted junk to hoarders" by way of eBay auctions. Last year, OGS managed to make $1.3 million and a spokesperson says, "We're very pleased with the program. It reduces the cost of running government and it reuses items in another way - giving people an opportunity to get something that they might not have purchased in a traditional manner." Like an old-fashioned lever voting machine!
Right now, the bidding is at $61, but there's a problem (besides needing to go to Albany to pick it up): There's no key. Maybe find a friend who is good at picking locks, 'cause Lord knows what a locksmith would charge.
