This week probably isn't the best one to roll out a new outdoor lunch spot, but as controlling as restaurateurs may be, they still can't control the weather (sorry, David Chang). That seems to be Richard Sandoval's thinking, as he just opened Y Tacos atop on the roof of his midtown restaurant Zengo. And where the massive Zengo is all about the fusion fare, the rooftop resto is a one cuisine show. Not that we're complaining.

Open weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Y Tacos offers sets of three tacos for $10 (choose from grilled mahi mahi, carne asada or roasted adobo chicken) along with sides including guac and chips, pickled jalapeños and grilled corn with chipotle mayo and cotija cheese. In addition, Sandoval is offering fresh fruit palettas, a selection of Jarrito Meixcan sodas and—especially interesting as the summer settles in—homemade ice cream sandwiches in flavors including cheesecake ice cream.

All of Y Tacos food is served to-go in the public rooftop above Zengo (take the stairs to the right of the restaurant's entrance) where there are many benches for a person to perch and enjoy some sun away from their desk. When the sun returns!
