After a year of renovation Fraunces Tavern is back. Last night the restaurant, founded as the Queen’s Head Tavern in 1762 and based in one of the oldest buildings in Manhattan (where George Washington bid farewell to his troops!), opened its bar to the public with a whole slew of craft beers and many of its "old parts in new places" (think reclaimed wood everywhere and furniture made from things like dismantled Singer sewing machines). The restaurant side of things are expected to reopen on January 17. The Tavern has been closed since last February when its former managers were replaced by an Irish outfit called the Porterhouse Group.
