A few months ago, we alerted you to a strange new venture undertaken by Larry King, in which the talking head purchased a Beverley Hills franchise of the Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Co. (Lest you forget, they're the Florida-based operation that "Brooklynizes" non-Brooklyn water by purifying it and adding back traces of the minerals and elements that you'd find in an authentic Brooklyn tap.) And now, The Daily has a video of the "King of the microphone" himself, touring the kitchen lab of the restaurant ("The truth is, I have no idea how this works") and slowly gumming his way through a bagel. Behold the grotesque vision:
According to host Justin Silverman's parents, who live in LA but grew up in Brooklyn, a taste test revealed that King's bagels are indeed "the best [they've] ever had...on the West Coast." Good to see that damning with the faintest of praise, a time-honored New York tradition, lives on even in California.
