The formation of the New York City Brewers Guild (NYCBG), an organization that professes unwavering dedication "to advancing the local brewing industry and thereby lessening human misery," will kick off with a big beer bash tonight at the Brooklyn Brewery in Williamsburg. A truly local collaboration, the NYCBG includes the Bronx Brewery, Brooklyn Brewery, Chelsea Brewing Co., Eataly Birreria, Harlem Brewing Co., Heartland Brewing Co., KelSo Beer Co., Shmaltz Brewing Co., Sixpoint Brewery, and 508 GastroBrewery.

Craft beer lovers can still pick up tickets for tonight's event at $75 a pop. With unlimited samplings of 25 beers and food catered by Guild members Eataly Birreria and 508 GastroBrewery, it's hard to imagine that anyone will go wanting. (We've attended events like this at the Brooklyn Brewery in the past—don't worry, you won't get Extra Mooga'd.) The Guild will announce the schedule for the highly-anticipated 5th Annual New York Craft Beer Week, celebrating the breadth of craft beer creativity near and far.

More than just a night to sip and mingle, the event is strategically timed to advocate for proposed state legislation that would end the new taxes on in-state breweries. Think while you drink!
