Time to invest in some elastic waist pants: this year's Village Voice Choice Eats foodie feeding frenzy is coming up next month on Tuesday, March 19th. The annual food festival, now in its 6th year, brings together more than 50 of the city's most far-flung restaurants, plus plenty of complimentary booze—Alphabet City Brewing Company, Bulldog Gin, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly and a dozen others—to wash it all down. As usual, last year's event got crowded as the night went on but follow our helpful advice and you'll be able to stuff yourself headache-free—at least until your hangover Wednesday morning.
Village Voice food critics Robert Sietsema and Tejal Rao curated this year's restaurant lineup, which includes Bobwhite Lunch and Supper Counter's killer friend chicken, Brooklyn Kolache, veggie delights from Dirt Candy, Littleneck, Ditch Plains, JoeDough and tons more eateries from across the five boroughs. There's also an entire section devoted to sweets from dessert luminaries at Ample Hills Creamery, Fay Da Bakery and more.
VIP tickets to the event are sold out, but General Admission tickets are still available for now. Your $50 ticket—proceeds from which will once again benefit Slow Food NYC—buys you three hours of face-stuffing, gut-busting glory. If you go, plan on getting there before the doors open to get in early and make the most of it.
