Well, we hope it was fun while it lasted? The beleaguered Juliet Supperclub, currently closed amidst a legal dispute, may never again open its doors. Cue the tiny violins for all the big douchebags who loved it. The Real Deal reports that the club has chosen to withdraw a lawsuit it filed in an attempt to stop eviction proceedings started by its landlord.
Juliet—which has had troubles since it opened ranging from allowing smoking to two recent murders inside and outside its doors—has been fighting with its landlord over the semantics of its name. The landlord had a clause in the lease saying the space could not be used as a nightclub, which it claims Juliet is, while Juliet insists it is just a supperclub, as its name implies. After the landlord, Edison Properties, gave the club's owner a 10-day notice to fix the alleged violation, Juliet fired back with a lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court. But that was then.
The two sides were supposed to be back in court today, but instead Juliet has withdrawn its request for an injunction on the eviction proceedings. Juliet could still win out in housing court, but the likelihood of any Giants partying with Ryan Phillippe at the club again seem pretty slim. Another bad sign for the club? Both its Facebook and Twitter accounts are now gone.
