Iconic LES institution Russ & Daughters has been teasing us with the promise of a second location for a while now, and it looks like that day is almost here. The loxsmiths confirmed today that they're opening a restaurant "in the next few months," and, hey, they're hiring! Hone those whitefish-deboning skills while you still have time, future Delicious Food-Makers of America.
The shop's spokesperson, Jen Snow, couldn't give us any details on the new location beyond confirmation that it is in fact coming soon. But earlier reports have indicated that the "Russ & Daughters Cafe" is headed for the Lower East Side, with a 65-seat restaurant set for 127 Orchard Street, not far from its E. Houston headquarters. Long lines for bagels, lox and schmear are on the horizon.
Right now, the R&D team's looking for line cooks, sous chefs, bartenders, servers and more; the shop is also celebrating its 100th anniversary, and it'll be immortalized with a documentary slated to screen this spring.
