Eat Cetera: Drunken Cupcakes, A Midnight Feast and Sidwalk Eating

CupcakeStop: Sometimes, there just aren't enough ways to get drunk, especially around St. Patrick's day. So if you're sick of your alcohol only being available in liquid form, you might want to try CupcakeStop's new booze-filled cupcakes. Baker Heather Warren is introducing a bunch of new flavors for the holiday, including Irish Soda Bread, Stout, Drunken Raisin, Bailey's Cheesecake and Irish Coffee. Mention Gothamist while ordering a dozen before St. Patty's day and you'll get a baker's dozen instead, with a free alcoholic cupcake of your choice. Cupcakes run $15 a dozen for the minis and $40 a dozen for the full sized versions.

CupcakeStop, 718-702-2825

For $75 a ticket, Chef Murphy will serve up nine courses, from classic French food like Mussels with shallots, parsley & white wine, to some not-so-classic dishes like goose fat fries. There will be plenty of wine and beer for everyone, plus a special "French Pearl" cocktail. Outdoor eating at its finest. (Flickr user Johnnie Utah)

Outside Eating: The Times recognized that this week the weather is nice and will most likely get nicer as the weeks continue, which can only mean one thing: more sidewalk cafes! Apparently there have been more applications for outdoor seating licenses this year than any year before, with the Department of Consumer Affairs issuing 1,078 licenses. Though the temperature is barely above 50, eaters are already flocking outside to endure the heavy doses of dirt, noise and sidewalk bugs that come with eating on the street. And, take it from us, uneven sidewalk tables increase the likelihood of your waitress spilling your drinks on you by about 200%.

But if you can't wait to eat in the open air, things are looking up. Motorino has already tweeted that their Brooklyn backyard is open for lunch, and we've noticed Bohemian Hall's courtyard is back open for business. The Times also notes that Ocean Grill's sidewalk seating opened this week, though they're assisted by heat lamps. Start looking for shoddy chairs and narrowed walking space on a sidewalk near you!
