Brooklyn's The JakeWalk has developed a winter fondue menu. There is no better defense against cold weather than a belly full of hot cheese, so JakeWalk has taken the regions best Alpine cheeses, like gruyere, comte and Ascutney Mountain, and mixes them with white wine, garlic and pepper. They also have their beer and cheddar fondue, bleu cheese fondue and of course a chocolate fondue made with bourbon, an equally effective defense against the cold. Plus, as always, their superb Prohibition-era cocktails.

282 Smith St, Brooklyn; 347-599-0294

Mama's Food Shop in the East Village has decided to tackle Brunch, bringing southern favorites like biscuits and gravy next to their classic meatloaf. Brunch is served from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. and is $13 for one entree (sweet potato biscuits and gravy w/eggs, pork shoulder sandwich), one side (like potato or beet salad) and a cup of coffee or OJ. There are also some sweets like Banana Bread Pudding or cornbread. But sorry, you can only get a Virgin Bloody Mary to wash that down.

200 E 3rd St, 212-777-4425

Construction has allegedly just started at a large space next to the already gigantic beer garden, which should be complete in two or three months, just in time for spring!

113 N 3rd St, Brooklyn; 718-963-3973

Strakey

In honor of today's snowstorm (or actually, any time it's snowing in the city), David Burke Townhouse, Fishtail and David Burke Bloomingdaleâs will all be serving Veuve Clicquot for just $15 a glass, as a part of their "Veuve Clicquot in the Snow" special. There will also be a number of dishes designed to compliment that glass of bubbly, like coddled oysters with lemon butter and american sturgeon caviar or sea scallops benedict with lobster foam. (N.B.: David Burke Townhouse is closed this week for kitchen renovations,)

Multiple locations
