When you're tired of getting yelled at by the ninety-nine percent just because you're a winner winner chicken dinner, repair to this discreet nest above Chelsea, where you can dip your toes in the pool, look down upon the High Line, and nibble on light Mediterranean fare. Located on the roof of the semi-newish Hotel Americano, La Piscine offers commanding views of the western Manhattan skyline, as well as fresh breezes off the Hudson. Take a look around.

The menu, from Executive Chef Joseph Buenconsejo, consists of fresh upscale bar food prepared right out in the open on the roof's outdoor open grill. There are bowls of succulent grilled octopus and olives ($16), rich baba ganoush with grilled pita ($7), juicy sliders, and things of that nature. Cocktail options include the Hibiscus Margarita, made with infused Tequila, Combier, Agave, and Lime ($16) and a Caipirinha, made with Leblon Cachaca, Lime, and Cane Sugar ($16). There are also beer and wine choices, and you can drink as much as you want without worrying about anyone about getting hurt, because the beverages come in roof-friendly plastic cups. Just be careful not to try any cannonballs in the pool; it's on the shallow side.
