A Montclair, NJ woman picked a fight with the wrong canister of breadcrumbs. Amirah Toler-Stoute opened a can of ShopRite-brand breadcrumbs on February 24th and discovered what turned out to be a bright green box cutter poking through the carb crumbles. They're really getting edgy with these toy prizes these days.
Toler-Stoute says the package appeared unmolested when she purchased it back in December and the metal seal was still intact just before she made the startling discovery. Nobody in her household was injured, but the concerned mother feared for her children. "Imagine if the blade had been up," she told Bloomfield Life, in the unlikely event that children ever took an interest in a tub of breadcrumbs.
The Brookdale ShopRite where the canister was purchased offered a receipt and a replacement package of the Italian-style breadcrumbs; Colonna Brothers, who manufactured the offending package for ShopRite, also offered her a $10 reimbursement. Both companies have also launched investigations into the incident to determine the origin of the stray object.
At least the frog wasn't armed.
