If you're a tiger, or a vampire, there is one way to cool down while getting nourishment: bloodsicles! While at the Bronx Zoo they're enjoying meatsicles and blocks of ice, Today reports that bloodsicles are all the rage at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and the Minnesota Zoo. A supervisor at the latter says, “It's kind of gross, but they like it."
Other zoos offer up frozen fish, frozen fruit, and simply diving into "chilled water grottos." And check out this hungry hippo swallowing giant watermelons!
As for humans at the zoo, last summer the Bronx Zoo reminded New Yorkers: "we have the great advantage of being located in the middle of this old hardwood forest. All our paths are shaded."
