New York City has lots of fancy annual events, and each of them have their own charms. But for the past few years one that has stood out to us as a highlight is the Manhattan Cocktail Classic's awesome opening night Gala at the New York Public Library's main branch. And though the event isn't until May 17 tickets go on sale tomorrow. At noon. And they will sell out.
Filling four floors and over ten million cubic feet of space in one of New York's great public buildings with cocktails, art, nibbles and music, the opening night Gala is one of those events that makes you happy to live in New York (and own a tux, if you do). And for what you get it really is worth the (admittedly high and more expensive each year) $195 price of admission. For your money you get three hours of unlimited drinks and food in the library—so you want to be prompt. Or, if you are a big spender you can get a VIP ticket, and an hour earlier admission, for an extra $100. This year they expect to serve over 25,000 cocktails!
Tickets to the Gala—and the many, many other Manhattan Cocktail Classic events—go on sale here at noon, March 15. The actual Classic takes place from May 17 through 21.
