After a successful launch last year, Malaysian Restaurant Week is back, running June 13th-19th across some two dozen Malaysian (and Malaysia-influenced) restaurants in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. If you've never experienced the funky, potent, and entirely delicious flavors of Malaysian cuisine, now's the time to start.

A quick review: Malaysian food is heavy on spices, curry, fish sauce, chiles and noodles (see: Ethnic Eating Adventures: Taste Good Malaysian), and, while Malaysian restaurants aren't nearly as ubiquitous in the city as, say, Thai restaurants, they're worth seeking out. Malaysia Kitchen, the organizers behind MRW, have rounded up most of the Tristate area's best bets (Laut, Nyonya, Penang), plus some pan-Asian restaurants that are serving special Malaysian-inspired dishes (i.e., Double Crown, SHO Shaun Hergatt), all of whom are offering a $20.11 prix fixe menu for the entire week.

Here's a look at Laut chef Kathy Wong cooking up one of Malaysia's signature dishes, beef rendang. Hungry yet?
