A Brooklyn woman is suing a neighborhood fruit stand because the workers allegedly starting throwing watermelons at each other. Of course, the Post's lede is, "She got hit in the melon — with a melon."
According to Grace Di’turi's court papers, the incident occurred three years ago: "The airborne watermelon attack unfolded as she walked along 86th Street and workers for Big Apple Produce who were unloading a delivery began firing the heavy green missiles to each other." Di'turi was hit by one of the melons, and then she hit her head on the sidewalk and later required hospitalization.
The suit says the workers should have known “that throwing watermelons across a public sidewalk ... was dangerous and unsafe." Also unsafe: Using a watermelon launcher during The Amazing Race:
