Herring! Get your baby herring! A few weeks ago, the first of the super-buttery, delicious (head and all) Hollandse Nieuwe herring touched down in the city, and, sadly, they're almost gone. But you still have time to suck a few down!

This Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. herring purveyors Russ & Daughters will be visiting the New Amsterdam Market for one day only, where they'll be serving up the Nieuwes Netherlands-style, with chopped raw onion and cornichons for $8. For dessert Marja Samson will be making poffertjes, a traditional Dutch street food ($5), and wine merchants Pasanella & Son will be pouring our free shots of aquavit (after noon, of course). Our other herring source, Grand Central Oyster Bar, is already out of the little fish, so act now while you still can!
