The Lower East Side's popular weekend market destination triumphantly returns for its fifth year at Seward Park at the end of this month. The Hester Street Fair, which operates on the site of a historical pushcart market, combines a flea market with a food market, selling goods for your home, wardrobe and body, as well as a curated list of artisanal food and beverage vendors. Beginning on Saturday, April 26th, the market returns for its annual occupation on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. now through October 26th.
That leaves plenty of time for sampling the dozens of vendors on hand, including a few newcomers like Hudson and Charles (meat sandwiches like porchetta); SSAM-BBQ (Korean meats in bowls, wraps and sandwiches); and Zha (Asian fried rice balls). They join food fest stalwarts Melt Bakery, La Newyorkina and Brooklyn Taco and others to fuel an afternoon browsing and buying session.
