It's everyone's favorite holy candy holiday: Easter weekend is here! And if you're not too busy getting Smorgasburg'd down in Williamsburg this afternoon, you might want to take this opportunity to experiment with some bizarre sugary concoctions. And there's no better place to start than with Gothamist's own classic Disgustingly Delicious Diabetes-Inducing Desserts.

Back in 2005, in a scene we imagine was eerily reminiscent of the opening of Apocalypse Now, one heroic Gothamite turned his three favorite candies—Peeps, chocolate Easter Bunnies, and Cadbury Creme Eggs—into dietarily dubious monster treats. As you can see above, what came out was a ginormous PeepPuff Ball (made of four packages of Peeps), HumungoBunny Cakes (with excess liquid Bunny), and the strangely intoxicating Cadbury Creme BigBall. If you dare take on the challenge, read the original post and report back to us from your hospital bed.

For those who are less inclined to put their stomachs on the line in the pursuit of candy nirvana, there are plenty of other recipes floating around out there that can help you use up your excess candy: last year we created two dishes with Peeps, and you can also make Cadbury Mini Egg Cheesecake Bars, Cadbury Mini Egg Truffles, Cadbury Creme Egg Cupcakes, Cheesecake-Stuffed Chocolate Easter Eggs, or Peepshi. And if you're more on the artistic side, then why not turn your easter eggs into tributes to Battlestar Galactica, Watchmen or Futurama?
