Last year, we wept salty tears at the loss of longstanding LES half-sour slinger, Guss' Pickles. To be fair, they just moved to Borough Park, but still, it's not the same. So we were pretty psyched to hear that this weekend, Guss' will be making an exciting, if temporary, return near their old stomping grounds, with a booth at the Hester St. Fair on Saturdays.

According to Fork in the Road, the gig is a one-off deal this weekend, but the representative we spoke to at Guss' told us they plan to be there every Saturday through November. Between Brooklyn Brine, McClure's Pickles, Rick's Picks, and the countless other operations vying for pickle supremacy in the city, we can't help but root for old-schoolers Guss', whose motto, "Imitated But Never Duplicated!" belies their long history with the city.

Guss' told us they plan to bring their full line of pickles to the Fair, which includes barrel-packed sours, half sours and hots, plus non-cucumber pickles like sweet peppers and mushrooms. Though there was some legal drama between United Pickle and Guss' over the rights to the name a few years back, we're just happy to be able to pucker up this weekend.
