Well this we weren't expecting. The Greenwich Village Gray's Papaya is now serving... pizza? Apparently the notorious hot dog emporium added the one dollar plain slices to their repertoire "a couple of weeks ago."
So how is the pizza pie? According to Slice's Adam Kuban, whose word we trust in these matters, "not very good." The sauce is a basic New York pizza sauce though the dough is crisp. But sadly there isn't a hot dog slice available. Though you can, of course, make one yourself for an extra $1.50—see the above photo.
This isn't the first time that Gray's has played around with products besides franks (and papaya juices). For a long time the 72nd Street Gray's sold deliciously over-salted french fries in addition to their hot dogs.
