Having successfully charmed far-west Hell's Kitchen with Gothamist West Market, the AvroKO team are now launching a spinoff to their Cali-style burger joint Genuine Roadside located inside the 11th Avenue food court with Genuine Superette, opening this week in Nolita. Photographer and Quick Bites columnist Scott Lynch was able to grab an early photo this afternoon that reveals some of the dishes on the chef-driven menu, with items designed by Saxon + Parole's Brad Farmerie and OddFellowes Sam Mason.
As expected, the Superette will serve burgers, seafood tacos, fried chicken sandwiches and some vegetarian sandwiches and salads as well. Zagat got another early look at the menu, but now we've got confirmation on the flavors of Mason's ice cream sandwiches, which will be served on brioche and pressed in a waffle maker. He'll offer flavors like more classic Vanilla Bean with Salted Caramel and Chocolate Pearls and Chocolate Chunk with Hot Fudge and Toasted Coconut. Then he'll do his Mason thing with Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Balsamic Caramel and Strawberry Jam and a Miso Cherry option with Butterscotch and Toasted Walnuts.
Celebrated chef Paul Liebrandt has also lent his name to the project as the first of many contributing chefs and Eater got word that he'll be serving some kind of fish and chips dish. Mixologist Eben Freeman has also been tapped to bring "juices, some spiked with bitters or tinctures," that'll be served as is or added to cocktails.
The restaurant was slated to open tomorrow to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, but someone on site today told Lynch that the opening has been pushed to Thursday, April 16th.
