If you're not sure what to do for lunch today, it seems like a perfect day to patronize a food truck; some of them will be donating a portion of their proceeds to help Frites 'n' Meats get back on the road after Monday's terrifying propane tank explosion. David Weber at the NYC Food Truck Association tells us, "Members of the association will set their own individual level of participation with many members planning to offer up to 10% of the day's sales to Frites 'n' Meats. The money will be used to cover health care costs for the two food truckers hurt in the accident and to repair the truck and get it back on the road. Donations will also be made to NYC Fire Dept and NYPD Precinct... in thanks for their quick and effective response to the emergency." And Frites 'n' Meats tells us their employee who was badly injured in the fire is still in the hospital.

"Our main concern is for Mohamed (Moody) to come home (we are so happy that we can say that - come home)," says Hiassam at Frites 'n' Meats. "My two brothers, Mohamed & Ali (especially Mohamed, believe it or not) want to get back on the road. We want to thank everyone once again for their concerns and wishes." In an interview with New York Street Food, Hiassam says he doesn't know how the explosion happened, but Mohamed "suffered some serious burns from the fire and scrapes from jumping out of a moving vehicle through the side window to escape the flames."

Participating food trucks include Schnitzel & Things, Mexicue, Rickshaw Dumpling truck, Kimchi Taco Truck, Taim Mobile, and the Mud Truck. You can find all their locations today via the NYC Food Truck Association. Frites 'n' Meats has also set up a Paypal account, and they say any excess donations will either go to a NYC children’s charity or a charity that feeds New Yorkers in need.
