Epitomizing the joy of the Lower East Side's ability to offer excellent bialys as well as superb hand-pulled noodles, tomorrow is the annual Egg Rolls and Egg Creams Festival at the Museum At Eldridge Street. The museum says that the block party will feature "Chinese opera and acrobatics, klezmer music, Yiddish and Chinese language lessions, mah jongg," and food, food, food.
DNA Info reports that over 8,000 people showed up at 12 Eldridge Street last year, which seems to be a marked improvement from the "lackluster" egg rolls that were seen way back in 2006. Hanna Griff-Slevin, a director at the museum, says that "we pride ourselves in not only exploring Jewish culture, but we work with a lot of immigrant groups past and present. The surprising thing is how not surprising it is when you see them side by side." The festival runs from noon till 4 p.m. on Eldridge between Division and Canal.
