Sad news for fans of well-curated, unpretentious Italian wine and small plates—tonight's the last night for the East Village incarnation of popular wine bar Terroir.
Eater reports that the six-year-old spot, once a joint venture between chef Marco Canora and wine expert Paul Grieco, will soon transform into a new restaurant under Canora. The two amicably dissolved their decade-plus business partnership last month. Grieco will take charge of Terroir's Tribeca, Murray Hill and High Line outposts, while Canora gets the East Village flagship and restaurant Heath.
Tiny Terroir debuted to rave reviews in 2008, with Times critic Frank Bruni heralding the space for straddling the line between bar and restaurant.
