At Gothamist's DUMBO HQ, the flavors of our neighborhood are encapsulated in coal-fired pizzas and myriad cups of coffee. But to the hops wonks at Coney Island Brewing Company, DUMBO's got "juicy citrus and tropical hop aromas," as interpreted through their new neighborhood-centric beer.
The company released their new Overpass IPA as a nod to the "artists, musicians and renaissance souls that staked claim and built a community." (What, no hyperlocal blog flavor?) Like a big, collaborative art piece, the brew employs three different types of malt and five different varieties of hops, resulting in a "deep golden, richly aromatic IPA."
The brew packs a respectable 6.2% ABV, one of their strongest beers on offer at the moment. Included in this Brooklyn-centric batch of new brews is another based on the history of Coney Island, which was first stomped upon by "explorers" in 1609. Both beers are currently on sale at DUMBO's Bridge Fresh market, as well as other vendors and bars in the five boroughs.
