Everyone was so stoked to have a bangin' time at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair, New Jersey Thursday night, and then the Man had to ruin what the media calls a "night of mayhem." Dude, has the media ever even partied at a Barstool Blackout party, like for real? It's about oneness. It's about day-glo clothes, bacchanal dancing, and waking up in the hospital with alcohol poisoning. And on Thursday night, it was also about biting ladies' calves and jumping on cops' backs.
Apparently things got pretty cra-zay outside the theater, where 3,000 festively attired youths created a mob scene outside, ultimately prompting the cops to shut down the sold-out party. One 22-year-old woman was bitten on the calf by an unidentified reveler, and 20 people were hospitalized with alcohol poisoning over the course of the night. Montclair cops arrested six people on disorderly conduct charges. But the worst part? The DJ didn't get paid for the party, which supposed to leave "nothing but a path of destruction in its wake. Lazers, Fog, Blacklights, Stroked and Everything that Glows right in your eyeball."
Most people outside the theater were already drunk when they showed up, according to police. Lt. Emil Dul tells the Star-Ledger, “There were three people totally intoxicated who couldn’t stand up. Then I find this girl in a crowd of people passed out and people were walking all over her. I had to drag her out of there with another officer. That was the breaking point." The Montclair Patch was also on the scene, and reports:
While police were attempting to maintain control of the crowd, an individual jumped on the back of one of the officers as he was attempting to place another person under arrest. Once on the officer’s back, the person, identified as Cody Russo, attempted to pull the officer away. Russo was wrestled to the ground and placed under arrest. As a result of the incident, the officer suffered an injured wrist. Russo, 19, of West Caldwell, was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. He was later released.
Later, police saw a man fall to the sidewalk in the area of Bloomfield Avenue and Lackawanna Plaza. The individual got up and pursued another individual, later identified as Michael Nunez. Further investigation revealed that both individuals had been at the event on Seymour Street earlier in the night and that Nunez had assaulted the victim. The victim suffered injuries to the eye and mouth. Nunez, 20, of Secaucus, was placed under arrest and charged with simple assault. He was later released.
Despite the government crackdown, this was clearly the best Barstool Blackout party EVER. Here's a video montage of the scene outside the Wellmont Theater. Remember that part of Apocalypse Now where Marlon Brando just whispers "The horror. The horror."? Coppola needs to do a sequel:
