Today in fear-mongering studies that make women out to be insecure shrews, women are apparently very concerned about excess body hair, and eating things like cake will basically turn them into werewolves.

According to new research from Mintel, more than half of all women are freaked out by a little peach fuzz, and the sugary, carby food they're shoveling down their gullets aren't helping matters. Things like cake, cookies, biscuits, croissants, hot cross buns, pies, profiteroles, danishes, cream puffs, strudel, and, uh, waffles have a high glycemic index, which means they release their energy quickly and cause insulin resistance, forcing the body to produce more of the hormone to control blood sugar levels. "The problem is that a raised insulin level may trigger growth factors which make the ovaries produce too much of the 'male' hormone testosterone, which can lead to excess hair," explained nutritionist Marilyn Glenville. And viola—more testosterone equals more facial hair!

Other reasons for excessive facial hair in women include getting old and getting fat, but don't worry, you can just eat a bunch of salad and that should clear right up.
