Brother Jimmy's BBQ is having a go at that big, 7,500 square foot space on East 16th Street that formerly housed Irving Mill (and before that Candela). This is the sixth location of the mini-chain, and their first foray below 23rd Street. Unlike the other locations, this multi-level venture is focusing more on dining, with a bar area that's much smaller than Jimmy's regulars have come to expect. But the J-bro's "southern roadhouse" design has been transferred intact: Jack Daniels barrels, corrugated tin roofing, Southern license plates, antique signage, etc. The menu (seen here) also has some new options you won't find at other Jimmy's outposts.

New menu additions, available exclusively at this new location, include Beef Short Ribs smoked then grilled with Bourbon BBQ sauce $23.50); Fried Oysters cornmeal fried with roasted tomato tarter ($10.25); Spicy Grilled Loin Pork Chop with an orange chipotle glaze, mashed potatoes and fried brussel sprouts ($19.50); and BBQ'd Salmon grilled with guava BBQ sauce, black pepper, scallion grits and vegetables ($21.50).

As for the space, it's broken up into several different seating areas, such as The Porch, a raised platform overlooking the bar; The Nook, containing banquettes for up to 16; and The Hog Room, holding over 50 people. There's also an outdoor seated café for up to 22 people, and an underground cellar for private parties. They're open for dinner starting tonight, with lunch and weekend brunch starting after March 15th.
