Fans of the Bourgeois Pig, the extremely romantical East Village bar known for their half-priced wine bottles and bubbling fondue pots can now enjoy the bordello-lite vibe in Carroll Gardens, too, with the opening of Bourgeois Pig Brooklyn. If vintage chandeliers, plush velvet banquettes and fleur de lis everything is your preferred aesthetic—run, don't walk.
Cocktails ($10-12) are grouped into "Mediterranean Tiki" and "Around the Continent" themes, with drinks like the Zombie Amarao (Amaro Montenegro, Italian Aqua Vitae, Overproof Rum, Fernet Branca, Maraschino Liqueur, Grenadine, Lime, Grapefruit, Pineapple, Cinnamon, Absinthe and Tiki Bitters) and the Kaiser Swizzle (Brandy, Lime Juice, Ginger, Kummel Caraway Spirit, Zucca, Bitters). Or just keep things simple with a bottle of wine, half-priced on Mondays and Tuesdays (just like the East Village location), which are, really, a fantastic excuse to get sloshed at the start of the week.
Food-wise, expect a variety of vaguely French small plates, focused on cheese, charcuterie, and fondues (sweet and savory), which should help soak up some of that vin. Just try not to get impaled on the indoor wrought-iron fence on your way out.
